Beyond the Underground

Beyond the Underground

By HonKit26113

This add-on expands the number of cave types available for exploration. Keep an eye out for dangerous mobs along the way, and you'll be able to find valuable ores to level up your gear!

This add-on currently only adds 2 new cave types, but more will be added in future updates.

Luminous Caverns

  • These caves generate exclusively under Mushroom Islands
  • This is a peaceful cave with no natural hostile mobs spawning
  • The entire cave is slightly lit up with the vegetation!

Vegetation & Foliage

  • Giant Luminous Mushrooms generate in this cave
  • Normal-sized mushrooms generate on the surface
  • Radiant Vines grow from the ground
  • These plants all emit a small amount of light!

Food

  • Luminous Mushroom Stew can be crafted with 1 Bowl and 2 Luminous Mushrooms
    • Replenishes 6 hunger points (3 hunger bars)
    • Gives you Night Vision for 15 seconds

Ores

  • Luminite is a blue gemstone that can be found in Luminous Caverns
  • Luminite Ore generates at Y levels -64 to 12 (1 to 12 in old world generation)
    • Drops 1-2 Luminite Shards when broken

  • Combine 8 Luminite Shards and 1 Diamond in a Crafting Table to get 1 Luminite
  • Luminite can be used to craft gear!
  • Luminite gear can burn in fire but is invulnerable to explosions

  • Because of how hard to get Luminite is, Luminite gear is slightly better than Netherite gear!

Mobs

  • The Shroom Elf spawns in Luminous Caverns
  • They can be bred using Luminous Mushrooms
  • They spawn in large groups of 4-8
  • They have 8 health (4 hearts) and die almost instantly from lava
  • They run away from the player but can be lured using Luminous Mushrooms
  • They drop 0-2 Luminous Mushrooms when killed

Slimy Sewers

  • These caves generate exclusively under Swamps
  • This is a very dangerous cave with thick green fog, limiting your render distance

Vegetation & Foliage

  • A layer of Slimy Stone replaces Stone on the surface, which slows you down
  • Slime Layers cover most of the floor
  • Slimy Blossoms and Slimy Sprouts scatter across the cave
  • Slime drips from the ceiling

Food

  • Slime Soup can be crafted with 1 Bowl and 2 Slimeballs
    • Replenishes 3 hunger points (1.5 bars)
    • Gives you Jump Boost II for 8 seconds and Resistance II for 5 seconds
    • Has a 45% chance to also give you Hunger I for 30 seconds and Nausea II for 20 seconds

Mobs

  • Slimy Zombies spawn in the Slimy Sewers
  • They spawn in large hordes of 4 to 7
  • They have 20 health (10 hearts) like regular zombies
  • They throw Hardened Slimeballs at enemies which deals 7 damage (3.5 hearts) with no armor
  • They drop Rotten Flesh and Hardened Slimeballs when killed
  • Vanilla Minecraft Slimes also spawn more frequently here, in groups of 2 to 4

Choose the correct subpack!

  • You can choose the subpack when applying the behavior pack to your world, then clicking on the cog next to the deactivate button.
  • Only choose the 1.17 option if you are on beta 1.16.230.54 or above, and make sure you turn on the Caves & Cliffs experimental toggle in world settings.
  • Only choose the 1.16.220 option if you are on beta 1.16.230.52 or older versions, or 1.16.220 and 1.16.221.
  • This pack DOES NOT bring new cave generation from Caves & Cliffs.
  • This add-on does not work on versions older than 1.16.220.
  • Choosing the wrong subpack will cause errors!

Known Issues

  • The thick green fog from the Slimy Sewers also appear on the surface in Swamps.
  • When breaking certain blocks using the Luminite Pickaxe, Shovel, or Axe, durability will not decrease. This is likely a Minecraft bug.
  • Efficiency can be applied to Luminite tools but there will be no effect. This is likely a Minecraft bug.
  • Due to a Minecraft bug that causes custom blocks to not appear in the creative inventory (MCPE-64487), I have had to utilize items. These items appear 2D and are massive when held. These items are temporary additions and will be removed when the bug is finally fixed.
  • Due to technical limitations, Radiant Vines and Dripping Slime will not break when a supporting block is broken.
  • Due to technical limitations, Luminous Mushrooms, Radiant Vines, Slime Layers, Slimy Blossoms, Slimy Sprouts, and Dripping Slime do not get destroyed by water or lava and are not able to be waterlogged.
  • Dripping Slime are supposed to emit particles. However, due to a Minecraft bug in recent betas, that has been temporarily disabled.

Please Read if you are on Minecraft 1.16.220 or 1.16.221

  • Choose the correct subpack in behavior pack settings when applying it to your world, or it will cause errors!
  • This pack DOES NOT bring new cave generation from Caves & Cliffs.
  • Deepslate Luminite Ore will not generate naturally in your world, but will still be in the creative inventory.

It is recommended that you use this add-on on beta versions of Minecraft with Caves & Cliffs terrain generation for a better experience.

This add-on may decrease performance on lower-end and weaker devices.

This add-on is still in early development. Please report any bugs you find and give suggestions!
